From Brother Fareed Ahmed:

Last Will and Testament

Health Care Proxy and Living Will

A few hints on the last will and living will.

Please understand this is not compiled with any legal expertise do feel free to have a legal entity review and confirm if you have any concern. A few recommendations:

  1. All the points mentioned are as per recommendations, but an option to opt-out has been given just in case someone disagrees and rather than completely discarding this document, to at least opt out of that specific clause but still keep the rest.
  2. Assign an executor that is younger, trustworthy and preferably a Muslim.
  3. Very important to have it notarized.
  4. Once it is notarized, share a copy of this with all immediate relatives, especially if non-Muslim and emphasize how critical it is for you that they comply with it.
  5. In case you or any person has concern, have them speak to one of the imams.
  6. Place a copy preferably with executors as well as with a local Masjid

Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "The congregational prayer of anyone amongst you is more than twenty (five or twenty seven) times in reward than his prayer in the market or in his house, for if he performs ablution completely and then goes to the mosque with the sole intention of performing the prayer, and nothing urges him to proceed to the mosque except the prayer, then, on every step which he takes towards the mosque, he will be raised one degree or one of his sins will be forgiven. The angels will keep on asking Allah's forgiveness and blessings for everyone of you so long as he keeps sitting at his praying place. The angels will say, 'O Allah, bless him! O Allah, be merciful to him!' as long as he does not do Hadath or a thing which gives trouble to the other." The Prophet (saws) further said, "One is regarded in prayer so long as one is waiting for the prayer."
